Terms of Service

These Terms of Service describe the rules for using Valryn and the rights and responsibilities that apply to your account.

Last updated: June 30, 2026

Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Valryn, you agree to these Terms of Service and any policies referenced here.

If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service.

Use of the service

Valryn helps users track habits, completions, streaks, accountability activity, proof uploads, and related progress information.

You are responsible for your own decisions, behavior, and habit goals. Valryn is not medical, mental health, fitness, financial, legal, or professional advice.

Accounts

You must provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and promptly update information that changes.

You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your local law requires it, and use the service only if you can legally agree to these terms.

If an OAuth sign-in provider creates an account before Valryn receives your required profile and age-eligibility information, you must complete the profile setup step before using the product. You may not bypass eligibility, account, or billing checks.

User content and uploads

You retain ownership of habit entries, proof photos, uploads, comments, and other content you submit to Valryn.

You grant Valryn a limited license to host, store, process, display, and use your content as needed to provide, protect, and improve the service.

That license includes displaying or sharing content with connected users according to your settings, making content available for support or moderation, processing content through AI or other service providers when a feature requires it, and retaining copies in backups and security systems for a limited period.

You represent that you have the rights needed to upload your content and that your content does not violate law, infringe another person's rights, or include harmful, abusive, or unlawful material.

Valryn content and branding

Valryn and its licensors own the service, software, user interface, designs, text, graphics, logos, wordmarks, trade dress, trademarks, service marks, and other brand assets, except for user content and third-party materials.

These Terms do not give you permission to copy, reuse, modify, sell, distribute, or create derivative works from Valryn's logos, wordmarks, branding, software, or product materials, except as necessary to use the service as intended or with our written permission.

Third-party names, logos, trademarks, and service marks, including those associated with payment, authentication, email, AI, analytics, and infrastructure providers, remain the property of their respective owners.

Third-party services

Valryn integrates third-party services for functions such as authentication, payments, email delivery, AI processing, analytics, hosting, and storage. Your use of those features may also be subject to the applicable third party's terms, policies, and technical requirements.

We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control, but this does not limit responsibilities that Valryn cannot exclude under applicable law or under the Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions and billing

Some Valryn features require a paid subscription. The price, currency, plan details, billing interval, and renewal terms presented at checkout form part of your purchase.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the interval selected at checkout until canceled. By subscribing, you authorize Valryn and its payment provider to charge the payment method on file for recurring fees and any applicable taxes shown at checkout.

If a subscription payment fails, we or our payment provider may retry it, ask you to update your payment method, limit paid features, or move the account to a lower plan. We may change future subscription prices or features after providing any notice required by applicable law.

Cancellation terms are described in the Cancel Anytime Policy.

Habit stakes and saved payment methods

Habit stakes are optional commitment features and are separate from subscription fees. Before a stake begins, Valryn shows the stake amount, currency, active period, trigger for a charge, and any XP reward. Habit stakes are denominated in Canadian dollars (CAD) for users in Canada and United States dollars (USD) elsewhere.

No stake amount is collected or held when you start a stake. Instead, you authorize Stripe to save a card for off-session use. If you log a slip while the stake is active, you authorize Valryn to initiate one charge for the stake amount displayed when that stake began. Stripe may require additional authentication or may decline or delay the charge.

A stake is not a deposit, escrow account, investment, lottery, or cash-prize program. Completing the stake period without a logged slip results in no charge and may award in-app XP only. XP has no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, and is not transferable.

You are responsible for the accuracy of slips you submit. Correcting, undoing, archiving, or deleting a habit or slip does not automatically reverse a stake charge already submitted to Stripe. Contact support promptly if a charge resulted from a duplicate submission, unauthorized account access, or a technical error.

A failed or processing stake charge does not guarantee that funds were or were not collected; the final status shown by Stripe or your card issuer controls. Valryn may retain transaction records and investigate failed, disputed, or potentially abusive stake activity.

Cancellations, refunds, and payment disputes

Subscription cancellation and refund terms are described in the Cancel Anytime Policy. Canceling a subscription does not by itself cancel an active habit stake because stakes are separate from subscriptions.

Subscription and stake charges are generally non-refundable after they are validly incurred, except where required by law or where Valryn determines that a duplicate, unauthorized, or technical-error charge occurred. Contact support before initiating a payment dispute so we can investigate, but this does not limit rights provided by law or your card issuer.

Pro features

Pro features may include higher limits, premium analytics, AI-assisted reports, accountability features, proof options, or other enhanced tools.

We may add, modify, limit, or remove Pro features over time, provided that material subscription changes will be handled as required by applicable law.

Acceptable use

You may not misuse Valryn, interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, upload malicious code, scrape or copy the service in an abusive way, or use Valryn to harass, exploit, threaten, or harm others.

You may not upload content that is illegal, invasive, sexually exploitative, hateful, violent, infringing, or otherwise harmful to people, systems, or the service.

Moderation and safety

We may review, remove, restrict, or preserve content and account records when needed to operate the service, investigate reports, enforce these Terms, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, protect users or the service, or comply with law.

We may issue warnings, limit features, disable accountability or anonymous proof review, disable AI features, suspend accounts, or terminate access when we reasonably believe a violation, safety risk, payment issue, or abuse pattern exists.

Copyright and rights complaints

If you believe content on Valryn infringes your copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights, contact us at support@mail.valryn.xyz with enough information for us to identify the content and review the claim.

We may remove or restrict content, disable access, preserve records, or terminate repeat infringers where appropriate and consistent with applicable law.

Disclaimers

Valryn is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every habit result will be achieved.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Valryn and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service will be limited to the greater of the amount you paid to Valryn for the service in the three months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars.

Termination

You may stop using Valryn at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk for the service or others, fail to pay required fees, or use the service unlawfully.

After termination, some provisions will continue to apply where they naturally should, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute-related provisions.

Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as by updating the date on this page or providing in-product notice.

Your continued use of Valryn after updated terms become effective means you accept the updated terms.
